Creating Contests for Influencers

Add gamification to your influencer campaigns with contests. Motivate participants with competition, leaderboards, and prizes.

Updated today

A contest ranks influencers based on their performance during a campaign. Influencers can see their standing in real-time, driving engagement and content quality.

Contest Types

By Deliverables - Rank influencers by the number of deliverables they create (most Instagram posts, most TikTok videos, most overall content pieces).

By Performance - Rank by content performance metrics (most impressions, most engagements, highest engagement rate, most video views).

By Platform Diversity - Reward influencers who post across multiple platforms.

Creating a Contest

Step 1: Set Up the Contest

  1. Open your campaign

  2. Click Create Contest

  3. Enter contest details: Name, Description, Start Date, End Date

Step 2: Define Ranking Criteria

  • Single Metric: Choose one metric to rank by (impressions, engagements, engagement rate, number of deliverables)

  • Weighted Score: Combine multiple metrics with percentages

Step 3: Configure Prizes

1. Click Add Prize

2. Set the rank(s) that win (1st, 2nd, 3rd, Top 5, All participants)

3. Describe the prize (cash bonus, product bundle, featured on brand page)

4. Repeat for additional prizes

Step 4: Set Rules

  • Eligibility: Must complete assignment requirements, minimum deliverables, post within date range

  • Exclusions: Exclude specific users or content types if needed

  • Tie Breakers: Define how ties are resolved

Managing Active Contests

Contest Dashboard shows:

  • Leaderboard (current rankings)

  • Participants

  • Progress (days remaining)

  • Prize distribution

The leaderboard updates as new deliverables are added and statistics refresh. Influencers can see their current standing in real-time.

Influencer Experience

When part of a contest, influencers can view:

  • Their Standing: Current rank, score, and points behind leader

  • Leaderboard: Top performers, other participants, and prize tiers

  • Progress: Days remaining and what they need to catch up

Contest Best Practices

  • Fair Competition:

    • Base rankings on metrics influencers can control

    • Consider follower size differences (use rates, not raw numbers)

    • Communicate rules clearly and don't change mid-contest

Clear Communication:

  • Explain how scoring works

  • Update participants on standings

  • Announce winners publicly

Ending a Contest

When the contest ends, final scores are calculated, rankings are finalized, and winners are determined. To announce winners, go to the completed contest, click Announce Winners, customize the announcement, and send via in-app notification, email, or both.
