Hashtag Tracking (Competitive Intelligence)

Hashtag Tracking lets you monitor which creators are posting under a specific hashtag, so you can surface relevant creator activity and competitive signals around a topic or campaign. Use it when you want to keep an eye on a branded or niche hashtag and discover the accounts driving conversation there. This lives in the Hashtags tab under Signals and is separate from the hashtag tracking you set up on individual campaign deliverables.

How to track a hashtag

  1. Go to Signals and open the Hashtags tab.

  2. Enter a hashtag in the add field. You can type it with or without the leading #, and it will be normalized automatically (lowercased, spaces removed).

  3. Submit the hashtag to start tracking it.

  4. InfluenceKit begins searching for creators posting about that hashtag. You’ll see a confirmation that the hashtag was added and that the search is underway.

  5. Results populate as the search completes. The tracked hashtag appears in the Hashtags tab alongside the creator activity found for it.

Quality filter on generic hashtags

To keep results useful, very broad or generic hashtags are blocked. If a hashtag is too generic to provide meaningful competitive insight, InfluenceKit will tell you it’s too generic and ask you to try a more specific, brand-related hashtag instead. Choosing focused, niche, or branded hashtags will always give you better signal than broad ones.

Hashtag quota

Each account can track a limited number of hashtags based on your plan. When you reach your limit, InfluenceKit lets you know you’ve hit your hashtag tracking limit and that you can upgrade your plan to track more. To free up room, you can remove a hashtag you no longer need, or upgrade for additional capacity.

Things to know

  • If you try to add a hashtag you’re already tracking, InfluenceKit will let you know it’s already being tracked rather than adding a duplicate.

  • If a hashtag search comes back empty or fails, you can refresh it to retry the search.

  • You can remove a tracked hashtag at any time from the Hashtags tab.

How this differs from campaign hashtag tracking

This Competitive Intelligence feature monitors broad creator and competitive activity under a hashtag. It is different from the hashtag tracking you configure on a specific campaign deliverable, which is used to attribute a creator’s post to a campaign you’re managing. Use Competitive Intelligence hashtag tracking for monitoring and discovery, and deliverable-level hashtag tracking for measuring your own campaigns.
